Marukan Tofu Tempura with Ponzu Dipping Sauce

Our Marukan Tofu Tempura with Ponzu Dipping Sauce is a quick gluten-free, vegan dish to serve as a snack or meal!

Extra-Firm Tofu
2 Cups
Vegetable Oil
1 Cup
Rice Flour
1/8 tsp
Sea Salt
1/8 tsp
Black Pepper, ground
1 Cup
Sparkling Water, cold
1
Green Onions, sliced diagonally
1/2 tsp
White Sesame Seeds

INSTRUCTIONS

Put 2-3 layers of paper towel on a cutting board and place the tofu block on top. Add 2-3 more layers of paper towel on top of the tofu, place another cutting board on top and add something heavy on it (such as a couple of soup cans). Let sit for 15 minutes to extract the moisture. Pat dry and cut tofu into 16 equal sized pieces.

 

Pour 2 inches of oil into a heavy pot and heat to 350°. Have a paper towel lined plate nearby.

 

In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, and pepper. Add in the sparkling water and stir well. Dip the tofu into the tempura batter and carefully lower into the hot oil. Fry for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on the paper towel lined plate.

 

Pour Marukan Yuzu Ponzu Premium Soy Dressing with Yuzu Citrus in a serving bowl, and add in few pieces of the green onion and sesame seeds. Garnish the tofu with the rest of the green onions and serve. Enjoy!
